Does anyone know in what area they are mined? Actually Botswana or were they named after the type locality?

Hi, Mindat has their general locality as the Bobonong Subdistrict in Botswana. They are quite easily identified Vs agates from other localities. Hope this helps

The export of unprocessed Botswana Agate is prohibited by the government.

Well, to be clear, Botswana agate in South Africa or part of historic collections is perfectly fine. Perhaps not in Botswana, or new production. If you have in an old collection in SA or the US though, it’s perfectly saleable!
